Simple Changes to a New You

Simple Changes to a New You

Embarking on a journey towards a healthier lifestyle doesn't have to be overwhelming or complicatedHowever, it does take intentionality.

Small, manageable changes can lead to significant improvements in your overall well-being.

With Christmas around the corner we tend to give ourselves permission to throw in the towel and indulge until the new year.

But what if you could begin feeling your best today?

Here are some simple steps to help guide you on your path to a new, healthier you.

Drink water. Your body is 60% water. It is vital that it gets enough water to function properly. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommend 100 ounces of water per day for me and 73 ounces for women. However, this is considered only a starting point. Staying hydrated can only improve your mood, energy levels, and even aid in weight management. Thirst is often mistaken for hunger. So listen to your body and get your water in.

Focus on consuming more whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. These foods are rich in essential nutrients and can help boost your energy levels and overall health.

Go for a walk and get some fresh air even if it's just walking around the block. Just get your body moving.

Sleep! Aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Sleep deprivation will wreak havoc on your metabolism and hormones. Good sleep is essential for mental clarity, mood, regulation, and your overall health. Rest, your body will thank you.

Show yourself Grace. Too often when we blow it or desert from our plan we give ourselves permission to continue to indulge. If you slip up, focus on now being your next step forward. Not tomorrow or Monday or January 1st. Show yourself grace and make now the next best choice.

Create a plan and keep it simple. By making these small changes, you can begin your journey towards a healthier, happier you. Don't wait until the New Year to begin felling your best today. Remember, it's about progress, not perfection.

Every step counts and makes a difference.
